Because each update sets a new suckness standard?

Because after 5 sucky updates people hope for a good update... and then every update turns out to be as 'good' as the previous one, or worse.

Izzy is taking a huge risk by changing LoD. The meta was pretty balanced with the exception of a few skills, lod at 2s cast changes everything.

Honestly, it wasn't THAT bad.
The Healing Prayers updates are pretty crap. Some bad skills got buffed and for the most part remain bad. Word of Healing is nice now, but I don't think it's going to offset the sorry state that party healing is in now.

Question:

Is the WoH change now a type of change people like to see applied more often to the healing line (thus making it more powerful)?

I never said the update was good, in fact it ultimately fails due to a lack of Soul Reaping and assassin fixes, but this is far from "the worst update ever"

Absolutely. A lot of the healing line buffs this update (most notably HB and Heal Party) failed to address the fundamental issues that keep the skills from seeing serious play. The Word buff did, and its been generally well received.

Unfortunately, this comes alongside the LoD nerf, which is what people are complaining about. The entire metagame had formed around LoD, and nerfing it is a huge change that throws the careful balancing act of the last few months completely out the window.

Dunno if this trend is to confirm but it only shows how powerfull (*cough*) melee is and monks can't cope with the damage.
It only shows how much teams depend on having a powerful party-wide heal like LoD.

I don't think the 2 seconds thing was necessary. Should of just made it cost 1 extra energy for each additional person healed or something like that.

As some one sad before. LoD got Ether Renewal'd.. RIP
HB is amazing now ^^
Old skill WoH is nice too. Bit odd after 1,5 years not touching it.

.
I actually dislike the Word buff. If the problem with the LoD meta was the lack of good healing skills to push bars up once you lose LoD, word doesn't really effect this at all since you would be still be running LoD instead of Word(unless you want to drop your RC and bitch up your midline due to all teh utility you lose). Of course, with LoD dead, you need it and it's a pretty obvious choice to run over the other moderately buffed skills, but I think word is pretty blatantly imbalanced and is a substantial buff to sinsplit once the build gets around losing LoD(like everyone else).

No, but this past month of GvG wasn't Def Web. The nerfs to Ward, SoD, and Paragon e-management helped to push that out somewhat. I'd say this past month was the most balanced post-Nightfall Guildwars has ever been, actually.

The current update may have screwed that up.

Haven't really played Guild wars yet- have people already started running distortion, return and dark escape?

Distortion on mesmers ofcourse.

Edit: Just read the meta is currently degen. Has anyone tried something like Draw condition/Martyr+Condition transfer skills?

I like LoD change. But it doesn't solve the real problem..
Having fun with Glimmer now.

I would really like to see non-monk useless/trashy skills buffed enough so that they are competitive in at least some arena.

It's hard to tell if it will be horrible for the game or might actually make it fun. It wont be too long before we tell though.

I'd say it's probably the dumbest update ever, considering all he really had to do was tweak inept/clums and sins and the meta probably would have been pretty solid competitively. With the LoD nerf we have to basically develop a whole new meta that may or may not be fun, and may or may not work at all.

Seems as though izzy is taking the wrong direction as well with monks, people just wanted decent ways to get red bars go up while running prot monks not insanely good ways of getting red bars up so that you would actually be better off pointing and healing.

He did tweak inept/clumsiness, by nerfing the Auspicious incantation+Conjure nightmare energy machine.

Though sins needed a nerf. Even if it was just an impale nerf.

The game was pretty close to balanced before all this. Some nerfs to assassins, ineptitude spammers, and rits would have been all that was necessary to bring the meta to the most balanced it has been. Too bad that's all gone to the shitter.

We all know it isn't going to stop anything, they'll have a bit less energy and have to give up their secondary for glyph.

The meta was/is all about shutting down LoD as this was the only monk skill that could effectively make red bars go up. Buffing some healing line skills (particularly HB) makes for some nice alternatives, however, making LoD a 2 second cast is a killer for the skill.

No real nerfs for some of the problem assassin skills but the change to recall is welcome at least. Would have been better though if the assassin and whoever he recallled to were blackedout for 5 seconds each imo.

Ineptitude clumsiness wasnt that good anyway, it barely gives any defence, it only does when the opponent is pressured like hell. Then again, with lod nerfed pressure will be applied earlier.

But remember, one of the best strategies against sinsplit was raping their mainteam, something that is even easier now.

1 solution to the LoD nerf that everyone is overlooking is the Resto Rit...
what the Resto Rit excelled in is party wide healing. there are plenty of Rit skills that do party wide heals, and you can even control their timing with spirit destroying skills...
the only downside is a rather weaker prot, but the rit is versatile enough to do compenstate for it.
